ABOUT US
Origin Story - The Mom
I got introduced to coffee at a very early age - yes, at the tender age of 7.

It was my first trip on an airplane. I am talking about a time and place where air travel was exotic and
the
hospitality onboard was upscale. The kind crew offered coffee with the refreshments - I am not the kind
to
say no, so I extended my cup for a helping. I remember being so excited - feeling like a grown up to
have
the luxury of sipping on coffee. One sip and my face contorted. I looked around to make sure nobody
noticed. I
reached for my bag - my mum had given me this cute handbag - another thing that made me feel so grown up
-
but I had nothing to put in it so I had stuffed all the packets of sugar I had collected on the trip. I
must
have foreseen the need for it :) I emptied a few packs. And tentatively took another sip - bracing for
the
bitterness - but instead I was transported to heaven. There is something about the bitter sweet
combination.
I still chase that feeling.

I handed down this legacy to my son. I introduced coffee to my son when he turned 10. Let the judgement
flow
:) Unlike me, he has restraint and indulges in coffee only occasionally. But he is no less besotted. Any
place we go, we find shops to try their coffee. We romanticize about many things and starting a coffee
shop
is one of them. Food and hospitality are common traits of ours. That, and coffee, is the origin of
Selfmade
Barista.

About Selfmade Barista - The Son
I take pleasure in introducing to you The Selfmade Barista!

Three years ago, we invested in an espresso machine to make our own lattes and frappes. Krish, who has
always been savvy and experimental with gadgets, found this fascinating and wanted to operate it. He
would
beat me to it and rush to make me a cup anytime I would so much as mention I was going to have one. This
habit eventually wore off due to the frequency at which I had coffee :).

But his interest bloomed and diversified. He made his own frappes and tried many variations. Our menu is
a
culmination of his learnings - a regular coffee list, but fine-tuned by the Selfmade Barista.

Our Offering - The Cafe
We present to you our very own, humble cafe - serving out of our home kitchen - a licensed Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MHKO Permit PR1002961) in Riverside County.

We invite you to try Selfmade Barista. We hope to satiate your tastes with a bite of something sweet, a
bite
of something savory and complete it with a perfect taste of coffee - or a drink of your choice.
